I am an illustrator spending the majority of my time sketching up my passions and influences from popular culture. I'll give you the usual back story in that I have always had a passion for art and drew constantly throughout my childhood bla bla. However, it's not until the last 5 years that I have been taking my art seriously, particularly within the areas of portraiture.
Today, I draw celebrities (I don't like to call them celebrities because they are just skilled people. The word celebrity is tossed around too much today) whom influence and encourage me in everyday life, even if it is a small area like make up or just general encouragement on working on my own dreams. For example, Brenton Thwaites - an extremely ambitious actor, whom I've watched (as a fan on the sideline) gain crazy movie roles working with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep! Even though we're in different area's of 'the arts', yet still 'the arts', he (and others) have encouraged me to strive towards my dream collaborations with artists (Elle Wills - BIGGEST FAN EVER. (Instagram @elle_wills) and just my artwork personally, no matter how looked down upon/ unaccepted art is within my past educations. (I want to be discrete without namedropping so I'm just going to say school, particularity the last years there...)
I didn't get accepted into university to study illustrations this year. Not because of my lack of skill because the heads of departments at the university when I went for interviews were very encouraging towards my work, but because I didn't get the grade. How sad is it that a visual aspect of life is judged by my grade... of which is graded by my ability in English and how my brain works by getting from one end of the sketch book to the other - even if I do already have an amazing idea for a final piece.
I have been working super hard trying to get a YouTube channel set up and working to teach you guys how I draw, and how you can use elements of my work within your own, so you learn independently, whilst at the same time being given the resources you need to continue your art journey. I hope to see you in my YouTube comments bar within the next few weeks.
